Pillow Box Tutorial

Happy Monday everyone!

Last May, during the Teacher’s Appreciation Week, the PTO of the school where I work surprised us with a little something each day of the week. One of those days we received a pillow box full of lifesavers candy 😉

En Mayo, durante la semana de Apreciación a los Maestros, el PTO de la escuela donde trabajo, nos sorprendió con un detallito todos los días de la semana. Uno de esos días recibimos una cajita (pillow box) llena de dulces salvavidas 😉

How sweet of them! But of course my attention was caught by the pillow box 😉 I thought the idea was genius because this is a good way to recycle your paper towel tubes, and also a way to save money, specially if you have to give away many of these. Well, I made a tutorial of how to make them, so maybe you can make your own pillow boxes….

Qué buen detalle! Pero claro, lo que más me llamó la atención fue la cajita 😉 Pensé que era una idea genial porque además de ser una forma de reciclar los tubos de las toallas de papel, es una buena forma de ahorrar dinero, especialmente si es que tienes que hacer muchos regalitos. Bien, pues hice un tutorial, para que puedas hacer tus propias cajitas de regalo…

Para hacerlas vas a necesitar lo siguiente:

Here are the steps….

1. Press flat and cut the tube into a four inches long piece. You can make it a bit longer or shorter if you want.

Aquí están los pasos a seguir…

1. Aplana el tubo y corta un pedazo de cuatro pulgadas de largo. Puedes hacerlo un poco más largo o más corto, según como tu quieras.

2. Using a round object (lid or glass) and an embossing tool, mark the ends on both sides (front and back) of the tube like shown…

2. Usando un objeto redondo (tapa o vaso) y una herramienta de grabado, marca los extremos en ambos lados (frente y vuelta) del tubo como se muestra…

3. Carefully bend the four sides along the marks…

3. Con cuidado dobla los cuatro lados a lo largo de las marcas.

4. As and optional step, you can stamp a background to the box…

4. Como un paso opcional, puedes estampar un fondo a la cajita…

5. Then you just have to unleash your creativity and decorate the pillow box as you wish 🙂

5. Después tu solamente tienes que echar a volar tu creatividad y decorar la cajita a tu gusto 🙂

6. And presto!
