SB+FSJ Hello Summer Blog Hop

Welcome!

Today we are celebrating the release of the two new Summer Collections by FSJ: Splash Zone and Starry Night! As part of this release, Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey have organized a fun blog hop where you will find lots of inspiration created by talented crafters who have used the products from the two new collections and created with their unique styles and different techniques, many amazing projects.

Blog hops are always a blast so I was more than happy to create a couple of cards for this special occasion. My first card features a darling set called: Make Waves stamp set. This set includes mermaids and ocean creatures images along with some cute sentiments.

To create the background of this card I used the Splash Zone stencil. I used it like you normally use a stencil to create a subtle background and I also used it to emboss a cardstock panel.

I colored the mermaids using the Journey Color Splash Watercolor pencils and a brush . It doesn’t really matter what technique you choose to color the images, those mermaids are so pretty that what it really matters is that you enjoy the coloring part!

Anyway, I also added some of the new sequins included in the Splash Zone sequins jar to complement the scene. I really love the combination of colors of the sequins included in the jar!

My second card features a fun set called Shark Attack. This set is so much fun. It includes different sharks and cute sentiments that are just perfect to create fun projects. I created a two tone background panel and I matted it with a fun frame called Film Frame, then I adhered them over a folded card.

For this card I opted for simply stamping the images over River Stone cardstock with  Black Licorice True Color Fusion Ink, and then I use my white Journey Color Burst color pencil to enhance some of the edges of the sharks and teeth. This is such a great way to add dimension with no effort!

To finish up this card, I white embossed the sentiment over a Black Licorice cardstock strip and then, I added some sequins from the Starry Night Sequins jar (which I thought matched better the colors of my card).

To celebrate this release, we are giving away a $50 gift certificate to one lucky blog reader – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes on Monday, July 1st, 11:59 pm EDT. Winners will be announced in our blog hop post the following Tuesday. (The winner is responsible for shipping cost, duties, and taxes.)

New Hello Summer Collection by FSJ

Hello creative friends! Today, I am happy to share with you that Fun stampers Journey and Spellbinders are having the Hello Summer launch party where two brand new collections are going to be presented: Starry Night and Splash Zone.

All the launch parties that FSJ organizes are always fun and today’s show is not going to be the exception! So please be sure to join us, obviously along the program there will be demos, games and prizes!

So, how about a peek of the Starry Night collection? For this special occasion I have created a card using a stamp set called Dream Seeker to create the focal point of my card. I used the Journey Color Splash Watercolor pencils to color that pretty whale and I also applied Journey Glaze and Sparkle cuts over it, to give it a shiny look!

The background was created using shaving cream and Liquid colors, and after the panel was completely dried, I white-embossed a fabulous new large background stamp called Space Galaxy. I just love how the stamp image kind of merges with the background panel!

Sequins? Yes, please! We have new sequins for this collection… let me tell you that I love sequins, so I was more than happy to finish up this card with some of the new Starry Night sequins!

SB • You Make Me Happy

Hello friends! It has been a week since I am officially on vacation and have kept myself busy doing projects at home like making a cushion for my craftroom chair, decorating my laundry room, and re-organizing my craft-room. I will share some pictures on future posts soon. Today, I want to share a card with you that I created using some Spellbinders and Fun Stampers Journey products I have. This card really kind of makes me want to go to Arizona and enjoy dry hot weather for at least a few days. The weather here in Illinois hasn’t improved much. Rain, rain and more rain. A few warm days here and there, but it has been so ridiculously crazy that I have to still wear a light sweater… (sigh).

Anyway, for my project I used an acrylic block, the Gel Press and Liquid Colors to create the background square. I put Lemon Drop and Candy Apple liquid colors over the gel press and I spread them with a brush plus a bit of water. I picked up the color with the block, and I stamp with it over a Whip Cream panel. It takes a few tries to get to the ideal effect, but I can say that it is a lot of fun to try.

I used the Potted Cacti die set and a piece of whip Cream cardstock (which was one of my mixed media experiments), so I used it to die cut the cacti from it. If you happen to be like me, that keeps some of your mixed media experiments, this can be a good way to use them.

I also die cut the pots from Pumpkin Bread cardstock and I complemented the scene with a sentiment from the Happy Expressions die set and some Rainbow Drops.

Be aware that my post includes affiliate links, which means that if you click on and shop through them, I will receive a tiny commission. Thanks!

SB Sunshiny Day Card Kit

A few months back, I received the Sunshiny Day Card Kit to complete a couple of projects for Spellbinders, and let me tell you that I was very pleased with what I could accomplish with it. It doesn’t really matter if you are a beginner or an avid card maker, the SB card kits are super fun to play with, and they will keep you busy creating for hours. The box that I received was full of products that I could use to create at least ten cards. Take a look:

This particular kit includes: 10 Cards & 10 Envelopes, 7 Sheets of 8.5 x 11” Paper/Cardstock, Set of 14 Dies, 6 x 6” Paper Pad, Pack of Die Cut Shapes, Epoxy and Foil Stickers, Clear Stamps, Sequins & Flowers, a Roll of Adhesive & Foam Dots.

So after I finished a couple of projects for SB, I ended up with a barely used card kit. Therefore, a couple weeks ago I went to a scrapbooking crop, and I brought the card kit with me . I planned to use only the products included in the kit and complete as many cards as I could. These are the projects I created:

The patterned papers are beautiful, the colors coordinate perfectly with the cardstock and die cut shapes included in the kit. As you can see, in the die cut shape package you get more than one of each shape, which in my opinion it is great, because you can duplicate your project or use the same shape in different projects!

The kit includes a stamp set and a die set too. I used a sentiment from the stamp set and I also die cut a cute starfish from the yellow cardstock provided. I also made the base cards from the purple and black cardstock included.

I was impressed with the amount of die cut shapes included in the kit, because after I finished all my cards, I still have many left over that I can use on more projects! On the second card, the Birthday sentiment (underneath the happy die cut sentiment) is not included in the kit.

For these two cards, I used two cute cars which are my favorite die cut shapes, and I included a few Epoxy stickers which are such a great detail for any card.

Another great product included are the Puffy Foil Stickers…. they are just great and they look amazing! I really had a fun time at the scrapbooking crop creating with this card kit.

Well, these are all the projects I created and the left overs from my kit…. pretty good, Don’t you think? I can still take advantage of my stamp set and my die set that I barely used…. I might do a few more projects with them soon!

I would like to point out that currently there are many beautiful card kits available to chose from, but you also have the option to sign up for the Card Kit Club, which is a monthly subscription, and that means that each month you will get a brand new kit at an incredible price. Please click >>>HERE<<< to read more details about it.

Good Luck Cards + FSJ & SB Online Warehouse Sale

Hello friends! I have a couple of projects to share today. The month of March is literally flying by and I  can’t believe we will be celebrating St. Patricks Day this weekend! Do you celebrate it? Well, we are not Irish, but I think it is fun to pretend we are and wear something green that day, or have the excuse to make a card to give it to a friend or family member, don’t you think?

Anyhow, as I said in the beginning, I created two cards for this Irish day featuring an ATS stamp set called ExtraLucky and the Lucky Clovers Die Set.
If you have seen some of my projecst before, you should know that I love creating backgrounds with Liquid Colors, so I created one using my JourneyGel Press, Limeade Splash and Sweet Pear Liquid Colors, a brayer along with a Whip Cream cardstock panel. The steps are simple: 1)  Apply liquid colors over the gel press, 2) Spray a bit of water, 3) Spread the colors with the brayer, 4) Pick up the color with the cardstock panel, and 5) Let it dry.

Once the panel was dried,  I adhered it over a Limeade Splash folded card. Next, I stamped the sentiment over it with Black Licorice Ink and I added Journey Glaze over the words (I always love using it to make the sentiments stand out).  I have to say that this product doesn’t take too long to dry, so that is why I like it a lot!

Next, I die cut a clover from Kiwi Slice cardstock. I continued my project by adhering the clover over the card front with foam squares. To finish up this card I used Black Licorice Silk, some green sequins and Lemon Grass thread.

For my second project, I used the Note Pocket Die to create a Sweet Pear cardstock pocket for a small card. After I assembled the pocket, I adorned it with a couple strips of Journey tape and a clover that I die cut from Limeade Splash cardstock. Quick and easy!

Then, I created a folded card from Whip Cream cardstock, and I stamped some Sweet Pear clovers over the card front and a sentiment with Black Licorice ink. As always, I also added Journey Glaze over the words to make the sentiment shine!

I flicked some Gold Silk onto the card and I embellished it with some gold sequins. Finally, I tucked the card into the pocket and I added a clip and Lemon Grass thread bow to finish up this card.

Well, today I also want to share that currently Spellbinders and Fun Stamper Journey are having an…

This sale includes lots and lots of products that you can get for $1, $2, $3, $5 or $10 …. Papers, inks, dies, embellishments…. and much more! Believe me, these are HUGE savings so please jump over to the shop and start filling up your cart!

Enjoy Life & Have Fun Card

Winter weather can get you thinking about warmer days and make you want to fast-forward until Spring! I know, I know, we are getting there. Having Spring weather in mind, I created a fun card using a couple of die sets from the Spellbinders Indie Line along with some Fun Stampers Journey products. The cool sun and cloud set is called Happy Weather and the stamp and die sentiments set is called Enjoy Expressions. I have to point out that this collection is only sold by independent shops, so you can search for the name directly on your browser.

Every time I create backgrounds using Liquid Colors, I always end up with extra backgrounds. So I used one of those extra panels as the background of my card. I matted it with a Whip Cream panel over a Turbo Teal folded card. Then, I used a piece of Lemon Drop cardstock to die cut the sun and Whip Cream cardstock to create the cloud. Additionally, I used a fine tip black pen to carefully draw the eyes and mouth of the shapes. I colored their cheeks with a Journey Color Burst Pure Color Pencils as well. I have to say that the cute shapes of this set can make any background shine!

The sentiment was die cut from Orange Creamsicle and Whip Cream cardstock and before I adhered it over the card front, I stamped one of the matching sentiments that comes along with the dies with Black Licorice Ink. Carefully and patiently I adhered the raindrops onto the card, and I only used a Petal Clip to complement this cute card!

I also want to share that currently Fun Stampers Journey has a sale called: Encore-Returning Favorites promoting some fabulous stamp sets, dies and printed papers that were previously retired but now are back at the store. Be aware that these products will be available while supplies last. Please be sure to click >>>HERE<<< to see the complete list of products, you might want to get some of them!

Card Set [FSJ November’s Theme: Reach Out]

The Fun Stampers Journey theme for the month of November is “Reach Out”. I agree that this month is perfect to send a card or note to those friends and family that you haven’t  talked to or seen in a while. I have to say that having cards ready to send is always a good idea, and making them in sets saves you lots of time. Card sets can also be a nice gift for your friends or family for any occasion. Today I am sharing a card set showcasing some products from The Spellbinders Celebra’tions Collection by Richard Garay

mg_cardsset7

For this set, I created four cards which are basically the same: a stamped background, a focal point and a short sentiment. I used a pretty stamp set called My Friend to create all the stamped elements of my card. mg_cardsset3

The flower image was stamped with two different colors of ink to create the background. The focal point was created by gold-embossing the flower over a vellum circle. The sentiment was white-embossed onto black card stock, and matted with a golden shimmery paper.mg_cardsset6To finish, I embellished the cards with sequins and gemstones. Quite easy, don’t you think?

Celebrate Life

Hi there! The Spellbinders Celebra’tions by Richard Garay is a very complete collection of amazing products. This time my card features three of those products: Fringed Garland Die Template, Many Words Clear Polymer Stamps, and Solid Cardstock colors.  I have to say that one of the things that I love the most about this collection is the happy colors 🙂

mg_celebratelife_2

To create this card I created a rectangular panel with Whirl White card stock. Then, I diagonally stamped the word “Celebrate” several times to create a background. I used different colors of Ink to make it more interesting (Odacious Orange, Pixie Play, Cool Caribbean.) Next, I stamped the word “Life” with Berry Black ink, and I splattered a little bit of Silk Luster (Luscious Lime and Cool Caribbean) over the background. After that, I die cut a piece of Whirl White card stock with the Fringed Garland Die. Instead of using this as a garland, I used it to create a woven detail for my card along with three thin strips of different colors of card stock 🙂

mg_celebratelife_3

Because I was challenged to use only the featured products for my project, I also used the Fringed Garland Die to make a couple of flowers as embellishments for my card.

steps_a

I die-cut  a piece of Whirl White card stock with Fringed Garland Die. Then, I cut one of the long sides with a craft knife and a ruler (about 3/4″ from the edge) I used a paint brush handle to make the garland into a roll. I placed the roll over a glue dot.

steps_b

I pressed the roll against glue dot firmly.  I also wrapped the glue dot around the base using the release liner to avoid touching the glue dot. Then I started to extend the outer “petals” one by one towards the center.  At the end, I removed the glue dot release paper, and I adhered the flower onto the card. I used enamel dots as flower centers. For better results, you can secure the enamel dot with a mini glue dot.

mg_celebratelife_4

Well, that’s all from me for today, I will be back soon to share another project.

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 Have a wonderful crafty weekend!

Today’s Card: Coffee Time

Hi everyone!

Today I am sharing a card that features some amazing products from the Spellbinders Celebra’tions Collection by Richard Garay. I have to say that the stamp set that I used for this card is one of my favorites from this collection, just because I love coffee! Every morning I have to start my day with a cup of coffee.  If I don’t have it, I don’t function correctly 😉

mg_coffeetime4

I began, by creating a card base from Captivating Coral card stock. Then, I used the Confetti Plate to die cut the background from SFJ Halzelnut Blend card stock. After that, I die-cut the Pierce Circle  from ButterCream card stock and I adhered it with Journey Foam Squares onto the card front.

mg_coffeetime5

Then,  I cut the text bubble using a fun die template called Tag That! and Luscious Lime card stock. The stamp set that I used is called Cup for Two. I stamped one of the sentiments over the text bubble with  SFJ Halzelnut Blend ink and I adhered it to the card with Journey Foam Squares.

mg_coffeetime2

Next, I stamped the polkadot cup with Totally Tangerine ink over a piece of FSJ ButterCream card stock. Then, I cut it out with Details Pro Shears (detail scissors) and adhered the shape with Journey Foam Squares over the pierced circle. I embellished the card with a heart shape  covered with Journey Glaze over the cup, and some enamel dots.
