A SC Card [I Love You Sew Much!]

Hey there!

I am back today to share a card I made using my Silhouette Cameo and a cute shape called Sew Much….

The shape is very cute, regardless all the tiny pieces that you have to cut with the Silhouette (I didn’t like that part) . The only thing I added to the image was a piece of thread as an extra detail. The background was made with two different patterned papers and stitches, and I alsoincluded some buttons 🙂

Well, I am still trying working on organizing my crafty stuff 😦 Can you believe that I haven’t finished? I know, I am kind of slow… and besides that, my older son graduated from High school last Sunday, so we were a little bit busy with that. Anyway, my buttons are finally sorted and organized. I used to have them in several containers (by brands), or in their original packaging… Well, now their home is a plastic container with divisions from the craft store, nothing fancy, but they look yummy…

Just in case I need the name of the manufacturer, I took pictures of them, separately…  as a reference 🙂

Well, that’s all from me today 🙂 Thanks for visiting, I hope you have a great crafty rest of the week!

A SC Card [Many Thanks]

Happy Friday everyone!

Just super quick today to share the last card of April! I know the month of May has already started, and of course I am behind schedule 🙂 Well, another April card won’t hurt anyone, so here is a card featuring a Silhouette shape called Rainy Day Bear with Umbrella….

This shape is very cute, I used the theme colors of April. The sentiment is by Paper Smooches (Word Salad) and the patterned paper is by Pebbles (6×6 pad Sunny Side collection). I added a bit of dimension with foam tape and Glossy Accents. I almost forget!…The raindrops are by Jane’s Doodles (Raindrops).

I have to confess that I also found inspiration on this picture of  my furry Shelby 🙂 She looks great wearing her pink raincoat! Don’t you think?

Well, I will be presenting the new inspiration picture and theme colors on Monday… so hopefully May will be a better creative month for me!

That’s all from me today 🙂 I hope you all have a fabulous crafty weekend.

Thanks for stopping by!

A SC Card [Happy Easter]

Hi there!

I am back today just to share a card that I created using my Silhouette Cameo, and the sketch from the current Sketchbook Saturday Challenge 118

032514web_HappyEasterIsn’t that bunny/owl image cute? Well, I know Easter is not until next month, but I couldn’t resist using this shape that is called Owl Easter . I cut the pieces using patterned papers from  the Hey Girl 6×6 paper pad collection by Basic Grey. The sentiment, bubble text, and owl shadow were created using Illustrator. The bubble and shadow were cut with the Cameo, and the sentiment was simply printed on the bubble with my regular ink printer.

I also used sequins, wiggle eyes and glossy accents as the final touches.

Well, that is all from me today 🙂 Thanks for stopping by , I hope you have a great crafty week!

A Scrapbook Page [After the Walk Pictures]

It’s me again 🙂 Here is a scrapbook page that I created using  a patterned paper collection called Harvest Lane by Simple Stories…

I bought this paper collection a while ago, but as many of my other crafty stuff it was waiting to be used.  This page is about the pictures that were taken after a walk I did along with two of my girl friends on October 2012.  I  combined the papers with a bunch of other things that I had in my stash:   canvas alpha stickers by Making Memories (I found these on the clearence section of the craft store a long ago) …. and I complemented the title with some letters I cut with my Silhouette and some tiny alpha stickers by Authentique Paper (Carefree Elements 8×12)

…Wood flowers, decorative tape, sequins, gemstones, pearls and of course stitches…

Believe or not, I have been scrapbooking more 🙂 I am still behind on my projects but, at least I can see some progress 🙂

Thanks for stopping by 🙂 I’ll be back soon with another project.

Have a great rest of the week!

A FC & SC Card [Now and Forever]

Happy Monday, everyone!

I am back today to share a card that I created using Faber Castell Gelatos and my Silhouette Cameo.  Let me tell you first, that I just love the yummy colors here. This was one of those projects that you start making with something in mind, but as you go, you change your mind a couple times to end up with something completely different, but what it really matters is that you are happy with it…

I found inspiration on the Faber Castell blog to create the background of this card. I have to confess that I am in love with my Gelatos 🙂 So, I created the background using watercolor paper and Gelatos  mixed with water.  I also added a little of stamping,  and a bit of dimension with an stencil and lightweight spackling… I promise, I will make a video to show how I created the background, because is hard to explain. This card is a total mix of different things 🙂 Anyway,  after my background was dry and ready for the focal point, I cut a shape called Butterfly with my Cameo using patterned paper and Kraft. Additionally, I stamped a sentiment included in a set called Simple Said by Paper Smooches. The final touches were stitches and gems.

Here the colors if you liked them…

Please comeback on Wednesday… The February  Guest Designer of my blog will be sharing a fabulous card!

Thanks for stopping by :) Have a wonderful crafty week!

Sneak Peek + Cutting Machine Tip

Hi! First of all, I want to invite you to see a wonderful card that my dear friend Virgina Lu has created using February’s theme : Butterflies and Hearts… Please click on the sneak peek below to hop over to her blog…Aren’t those colors fabulous?

On another note, I received another email from a reader asking me about how to cut thin lines using your Cameo. This is a card that I created using a Silhouette shape with a very thin outline….

Sometimes it can be tricky to obtain a clean and perfect thin cut when using your cutting machine. If you have tried many times, and  your machine  keeps tearing your paper, plus it is making you feel frustrated, take it easy 🙂  it can be as simple as  a dirty blade… You can see a tutorial on how to clean the blade by clicking >>>HERE<<< . Believe me, it helps a lot to clean it. Well,  Today I am sharing  how I cut the same shape in a different way. The original Doggy shape by Silhouette has two layers: white base and black outline… mgdoggycut

A good  alternative to cut this shape is to separate the inside of the outline shape into another layer; so instead of having just two layers (brown-black), now  I have three (brown-black-brown)… You put them together, and this is the result…doggylayers2

Do you notice the difference?…. Is just the way the shape was cut. The image looks the same. A second alternative would be to cut the thin black outline using vinyl instead of card stock, but I think the triple layer method works perfectly fine! I hope this trick can help you with some of your shapes when using your cutting machine.

Thanks for stopping by, I’ll be back soon with another February theme project 🙂

A Hello Card

Happy Monday, everyone!

Today we have a snowy day here in Chicago… again, but I don’t complain. Actually it was a good thing to stay home, to do some crafty stuff today 🙂  I created a card using Faber Castell Gelatos and a cling stamp by Hero Arts (Leaf and Floral Background)…. I love the yummy colors here…

I complemented this card with a sentiment and  a butterfly shape that I cut out using my Cameo. The sentiment was cut four times and I just stacked the words together… just to add dimension.  I cut the butterfly twice and sewed a few stitches in the middle… Of course, sequins and stitches were also part of my card 🙂

I hope you have a fabulous crafty week 🙂 Thanks for stopping by!

Another Card [You’re Special]

Just popping in to share a card that I created using a new technique for me: Embossing Paste. I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this technique, so I searched the internet for an option to create your own embossing paste. Well, I found a couple of posts about it and you can see them HERE and HERE. Both articles include list of materials and instructions (the first one also includes a sample and pictures).  No worries, you don’t have to create anything, you can find the materials easily in the store.  So besides the supplies that I bought: Lightweight spackling and a paint spatula, I also bought a couple of stencils in the local craft store and I created this kind of serious card 🙂

The results are great; I specially like the dimension you can achieve… and no, I did not forget about the theme of this month… the petals of my flowers are hearts 🙂 and I also used heart shaped gems. The sentiment is by Jane’s Doodles and belongs to a set called: Daffodils.  The flowers were created with my Silhouette and Illustrator. I will share the shape soon.

Well,  the products I used for the background of my card are these…DSC_1658

You can change the color of the spackling paste by adding a bit of the chalk powder (Scrape slightly some of your chalk bars with a craft knife). I changed the color in another sample and I also added glittery embossing powder, but… I don’t really like working with glitter… You shine all day! I like the results, though…

Just remember: you have to clean your stencil and spatula with water right away after you use them, to prevent  the paste to ruin them. Well, if you are curious like me about this technique… You can  give it a try… maybe your hubby already have the materials in his garage 🙂

Thanks for stopping by :) Have a wonderful crafty rest of the week!

A SC Card [Be Mine]

Hi there!

I am back today to share a Shabby Chick style card that I created using my Silhouette Cameo. The sketch is from The Paper Poppy by Laura Davis and you can find  it by clicking >>>HERE<<< …and this is my card…

I used  patterned papers from two different 6×6 paper pad collections:  Paper Heart by Crate Paper, and Sunny Side by Pebbles. I also included decorative tape and enamel dots by Recollections. The heart shape belongs to the Cameo Software library and it is called Heart 1028. I created the sentiment as well as the flower with my Mac and Illustrator. The final touches were some stitches here and there 🙂

Here is the color combo if you like it 🙂

Well, that’s all from me today, I hope you have a great rest of the week!

A Scrapbook Page [Always Pawsitive]

Hi there!

I am back today to share a Scrapbook page… oh yes… you read right! There is nothing that a little bit of pressure can’t  make me accomplish… Lol. I based my layout in one of Becky Fleck’s fabulous sketches from the PageMaps blog (click HERE to see it), and I created a page of my sweet  and furry Shelby…

I am not very good at writing, specially in English…lol… But I always try to do my best. I write in English, because in the future the ones who will read my pages will be my sons, or maybe their children… I am not sure about that, but that is what I would like to happen 🙂  Anyway, this is what I wrote: “Shelby is always looking forward to enjoy whatever mother nature has reserved for her. She faces each day pawsitively. Snow or rain will never stop her from going outside for a walk. She loves her walks, even if they are short ones.”

I used patterned papers by Recollections, and I added a bunch of yummy sequins, some buttons, doilies and other random embellishments.

I created the title, and tags  using Illustrator and I cut them with my Cameo. It was fun to make this page, specially because I loved the pictures of my Shelby.

Now is time to announce the giveaway winner….Yay! According to Random Org the winner is:
