FSJ • Oh So Happy

The mixed media concept itself can be a little bit intimidating if you are not familiar with the mediums or  simply because you don’t like to get your working area messy (let’s be real: more than normal). Well, maybe it can get a bit messier, but that doesn’t take the fun part away. Once you start, it is hard to stop creating. I have to say that what I really like is that even though you are working on an specific project and you have something in mind, in the process you end up creating more pretty stuff and at the end, nothing is wasted. Since you can create many backgrounds, and even though you don’t use them right away, it will save you time to create another project another day. Anyhow, today I am sharing a card that I created using one of those extra backgrounds that I created a couple weeks ago using some  mixed media products…

080118web_ohsohappy1

The background was created using the Circle Bliss stencil along with Citrus Cooler and Sweet Berry acrylic paints.  I also used Modeling paste, Oatmeal Cookie acrylic paint and the Flower Power stencil, just to add an extra detail over the already pretty background.

080118web_ohsohappy2

To create the flowers, I die cut the Colorful Bloom dies from Oatmeal Cookie cardstock and I stamped the Grid Paper and Lace Background stamps on them with Outrageous Pink ink.  I added a pierced detail, a stitched circle,  a sentiment, cut rhinestones, natural twine and a couple of brush silver staples.

The current promotion at Fun Stampers Journey is  called Prepped to Play and the products on sale are some of the ones that belong to the Mixed Media category. So if you already have some of those products on your wishlist, this  is a good chance to get them 🙂 Please be sure to click on the image below to see the complete list of mixed media products that are for sale this month:

FSJ • A Day in the City

The 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page size has always been my favorite to work with since the large size gives you plenty of room for pictures and many products like patterned papers and embellishments. However, I also have done some of my pages in 8″ x 8″ or 6″ x 8″ sizes. These last two, are fun since you can finish a page faster, but the size of the page kind of limits the amount of details and pictures you can use. Anyhow, I was curious about trying another size for a page: 8.5″ x 11″ or Letter size. I have seen many  scrapbookers creating using this size and they always seem to achieve beautiful pages where the amount of elements seems to be just right.

Well, today I am sharing a letter size page that I made using wonderful Fun Stampers Journey products to document a short visit to the city that my husband and I did last year. I won’t be describing each of the steps I followed to create this page but I will highlight a few of them.

020418web_adayinthecity8

I used the clouds paper that is included in the Spring Filled Prints pack, as the background for the double layer of buildings I made with the Hero City die. For the other part of the page, I used the dotted paper included in the Birthday Pop Prints pack. To disguise the joint in between, and to connect the upper and bottom parts of the page, I used two lines of Journey Tape. You can barely see them since the pictures and title are right on top of them.

020418web_adayinthecity5

For the word “city” I aligned the letters on an acrylic block leaving enough space in between them, so I could die cut them later. I inked the whole letters with Beach Ball ink and then, using a sponge dauber and Huckleberry Fusion Ink, I applied color over half of each letter to achieve an ombré effect. This part has to be done fast because you don’t want the ink to dry over the stamp. For this step be sure that both of your ink pads are quite juicy.

020418web_adayinthecity6

For the words “A Day in The”, I stamped each letter with Black Licorice Ink and I die cut each of them with their matching die. I used a circle as a base to adhere the letters. Using a circle was in part, because we rode the Ferris wheel 😉 and because I could put more letters along the circle than if I tried to put them all in a straight line over the word “city”. I think they fit and look better. Besides that, I punched a couple of hearts using Mirror Gold cardstock, just to embellish and link both lines of the title.

020418web_adayinthecity7

Besides the pictures, I also used the memorabilia from that day as part of my page. Since the page already had a lot of elements so far, I did not want to add that many embellishments, so I only used a bubble text, a piece of view film, and a camera clip. Overall I can say that I liked the letter size for a page, I made it quite fast, and I loved how my page turned out at the end.

FSJ • Bloom This Way • Love Bug Card

Fun Stampers Journey has recently released the new Bloom This Way mini catalog which includes lots of new products perfect for the upcoming important festivities on our calendars!

Today I am sharing a card that I created using a super cute Host Exclusive stamp set  called Bug Love and its matching die set. Take a look:

011018web_lovebug

To create my card, I stamped a Watermelon Fusion panel  using Black Licorice ink and a background stamp called Graduated Dots. I adhered this panel onto a Black Licorice card base.

I stamped the pretty lady bug image and sentiment over Whip Cream cardstock with Black Licorice Ink. I colored the bug with Candy Apple and River Stone Liquid Colors and I die cut both shapes with their matching dies. After that, I added Journey Glaze details and I let them dry.

011018web_lovebug2

I also die cut two hearts from Bubble Gum cardstock and a different heart from  Sweet Berry cardstock to create a base of layers underneath the sentiment and lady bug. I finished up m card with Journey tape, Sparkle silk and some yummy heart shaped dots.

One of the advantages of hosting a Fun Stampers party is, besides spending time with your friends creating,  you have the opportunity to purchase some exclusive items like the Bug Love 🙂 If you are curious about how to host a party and get to know more about the fabulous Fun Stampers products, please be sure to visit their website and search for a coach in your area.

FSJ • October Planner Pages

Hello friends! The Fun Stampers Journey Make your Mark promotion will end very soon.   You still have a few days to get some of these fabulous products that were created specially for your planners.  Be sure to contact one of the Journey Coaches to take advantage of this great promotion.

102517web_planneroctober

So today I am sharing some Halloween planner pages that I created for next week. My two sons are older now, so we don’t  celebrate Halloween at home as we did before, but we still like to decorate and have candy ready for the spooky visitors.

102517web_planneroctober5

For these planner pages I used several stamp sets from the Journey Days Collection as well as some other stamps from the Holidays Mini Catalog. It is fun to mix and match your stamps and use them on other projects besides your cards, and even create some other elements like paper clips.

102517web_planneroctober2

I also created a pouch using the Fun Sleeve die along with Fall Fest Prints, thinking that I can use it to hold some of the pictures I take that day.

102517web_planneroctober4

In addition, I used one photo sleeve to hold a recipe that I love to make every year on this special occasion. I like the idea of maybe using the same sleeve next year 🙂

102517web_planneroctober3

On the following page, since November the 2nd. is the day when “El Día de los Muertos” is celebrated in Mexico, and this is an important tradition, I included a picture of the “altar” that my sister sets in honor of my mom and dad each year.  It is a little reminder for me to light up a candle for them that day.

Anyways, I hope you feel inspired to decorate your planners and if you haven’t tried it before, give it try. It is a fun thing to do! 🙂

Please be sure to stop by the FSJ blog for more inspiration and ideas on using your planner products.

FSJ • All Hallows’ Eve Card

Hello friends, I am back today to share a card that I created using some Fun Stampers Journey products.  I want to point out that this time I  used a simple and fun  SplitcoastStamper sketch (SCS664) to create my card.

092917web_hallows2

The stamp set that I used is called Hallows’Eve and it is  included in the Journey Holiday Mini. I want to mention that this set is a Host Exclusive product. To learn more about how to host a Make-It Party, please click >HERE<  This set in particular is a large set with thirty one stamps. All the images included are very cute and they are perfect to use for Halloween themed projects.

I also used a background stamp called Widow’s Web, and I simply stamped it with Tangerine Fusion ink over Citrus Cooler cardstock. The little figures were stamped with  Black Licorice ink  onto Whip Cream cardstock.  I added some details with Journey Color Splash watercolor pencils and then cut trimmed the tiny images with scissors.

092917web_hallows1

To create an ombré effect for the the little spooky house image, I inked the stamp with three different tones of purple (Pretty Amethyst, Lavender Fusion and Grape Fusion). Then,  I stamped the sentiment over a pierced oval matted with a larger vellum oval.   I layered all the elements of the card and I added a few other things to complement the cute scene: Journey tape, sequins and Sparkle silk.

By the way, a new fun promotion has started at Fun Stampers Journey, check it out:

FSJ • Happy Halloween Card

Hi there! The Fun Stampers Journey Holidays Mini was recently released, and let me tell you that there are a lot of new products that you are going to love.  The products are just perfect for the coming Fall and Winter celebrations, so even though those dates seems to be far away from now, we are still in time to make a wish list and order some of those fantastic products for our projects. This catalog is available through your FSJ Coach or you can take a peek online by clicking >>>HERE<<.

For today I made a Halloween card using the candy corn image from a fun set called: Halloween Silhouette as well as some other FSJ products. Yyou will find the supplies list at the end of this post 😀

081217web_candycorn

To create the candy corn shapes, I stamped the image twice onto Whip Cream cardstock using Lemon Drop and Tangerine Fusion inks. I stamped a third image to make a template. I cut out the bottom part, middle part of the images  and template with scissors.

mg_DSC_0092

After that, I glued the yellow and orange parts over a piece of Whip Cream cardstock, and I traced the upper part of the candy corn using the template and a pencil. Then, I cut out the candy corn with scissors. I created three candy corn.

mg_DSC_0093

For the background I used the striped Wall stamp but instead of using it as vertical lines I used it as horizontal lines. The sentiment that I used is included in one of the Host Exclusives stamp sets included in the same catalog, and it is called: Hallows Eve.  I simply white embossed it onto a Black Licorice rectangle.

081217web_candycorn2

To finish off my card, I die cut some vellum circles, and used some sequins and Black Licorice as the final touches on it.

Please don’t forget that the Fun Stampers Ink Promotion is open until the end of the month, so this is a great opportunity to add some more colors to your stash 🙂

FSJ Ink Promotion + Love You Card

Hi there! Today I want to share about a great Fun Stampers Journey promotion during the month of August:

August-Promo-FB-Social-Share-2.jpg

The True Color Fusion inks are non-solvent hybrid of pigment and dye, and they dry quickly, retaining their vibrant colors, and they are also fade-resistant. These inks work on any surface, including paper, wood, fabric, and acrylic, and they become permanent when heat-set on non-paper materials.

I have to point out that all the ink pads can be purchased individually (20% off) or also as bundles (15% off) through a FSJ Coach. If you are not sure on how to find one near you, you will find a link on the upper right corner on the FSJ Home page.

So for today I also made a clean and simple card, using some of these yummy colors. Check it out:

080717web_LoveYou

The stamp set that I used is called Dear Rose. What I like about this set is that you can either stamp the images with black, and then color them with your favorite color technique or, you can  simply stamp the images using different colors of ink, like I did.

First,  I stamped the rose and then, I masked it with a sticky note to be able to stamp the stem and leaves close to the rose image. Simple basic stamping.  I think the rose image is quite pretty and even a simple technique makes your project look great 😉
