Two Cute Sloth Cards

Happy  Friday, friends! I am back today to share a couple of cards that I created using one of my favorite sets from the new Fun Stampers Journey Inspiration Book and Catalog 2018-2019. The set that I am talking about is called “Don’t Hurry” and it features a cute Sloth and some other coordinating images.  The two cards that I made for today are different. For the first one I created a “jungle’ type of scene for the adorable sloth:070218web_take-your-timeFirst, I made a  fun and quick background using the new Wallpaper stencil Kiwi Slice ink and a dauber over a Limeade Splash panel. I like how you can achieve an ombré effect with a dauber and the ink pad over the leaves! ;)Then, I stamped the cute sloth and branches over Oatmeal card stock with Black Licorice ink, and I colored them with Color Burst color pencils.  I fussy cut the images and I affixed them over a a circle with foam squares.070218web_take-your-time2The sentiment was simply white embossed over a Pumpkin Bread circle,  and the final touches were Gold Silk  plus Fashion Gold pearls.   Here is the color combo for this card:mgcombo36For my second card I wanted to create a different feeling from the previous card, since I wanted to use that cute pj shirt image over the sloth, so I created a nocturnal scene for him. To do so, I used one of my favorites color combos, take a look:070218web_RELAXI  created a moon shape using two size of circle dies, and I adhered it over a Black Licorice panel matted with Candy Apple card stock.  I stamped the sloth image  over Whip Cream cardstock with Black Licorice ink.  colored the sloth with Color Burst color pencils as well,  and I stamped the pjs using Candy Apple ink.070218web_RELAX2Finally, I coordinated  the moon scene with a star banner, Sparkle silk and some silver sequins. Here is the color combo that I used for my card:mgcombo37020718web_donthurry2cardsbPlease be sure to visit the Fun Stampers Journey Blog, and Facebook page… As part of the new catalog lunch we are having  daily live videos and  inspirational blog posts!

I made a card to share today, as a Thank You for visiting my blog. I know that lately, I haven’t been very frequent here, but we all have been super busy to get to this day. Anyhow, here is my creation using a new stamp set that I can say is a “must have” called: Many Thanks. This is an AT size stamp set that belongs to a fabulous collection named RSVP. Take a look:

070218web_ThankYou

To create the background I used one of my favorite products: Lemon Drop Liquid Color. I simply put some drops and a little bit of water over a piece of clear acetate and I spread it with the square paint brush. Then, I picked up the color by placing a Whip Cream Panel over the watery mix.

070218web_ThankYou2

I die cut a heart using the Heart Felt die set, and then I stamped it using the new Grid Paper stamp background. I also used my sewing machine to affix the heart over the panel.

Of course, as the final touches yummy Journey Glaze over the sentiment and some Sweet Candy Drops here and there.

If you liked the color combo I used for this card, here you have it 🙂

FSJ • Llama Riding

One of the many things that I like about scrapbooking is that every moment captured in a photograph is a scrapbook page opportunity… at least that is the way I look at it. My sons are young men now, and from each of them I have pictures that I love when they were kids, so since I don’t work on my pages in a chronological order, it doesn’t really matter if I’m using an old or new picture to create a page. Any picture that I choose and make into a scrapbook page makes me remember about it, and makes me smile again.

Today I am sharing a page that I created a few weeks ago, using Fun Stampers Journey products along with one fabulous sketch by the talented Laura Whitaker.  I had a lot of fun creating this page, specially because I had the chance to use many great products like the No-Prob-llama stamp set, which  I thought it was just perfect for my son’s picture riding a llama:

061118web_llamapage1

I have to confess that I am not a fast scrapbooker, so that is why sometimes I like to rely on pre-design sketches. They save me time, but still have the freedom to play with balancing colors, textures and images. Anyways, to create all those layers I used the Lots of Dots die  to make the long Candy Apple banner, along with one of the papers from the Birthday Pop Printed  papers. I also chose other cardstock colors that coordinate with my picture and colorful dots paper.

061118web_llamapage5

As for the title I used the Solid Bet  stamp set and the Outline Bet die set . I completed the title with the Sunshine Alphabet stickers.  The Notebook Page die that I put behind the title is one of my favorite dies, because it is very versatile! Anyhow, I also stamped a sentiment over a piece of Candy Apple cardstock strip,  and I added some other embellishments like the text bubble, a wooden heart and a couple of paper clips (glasses and note).

061118web_llamapage3

For the top and bottom parts of the page I added a border from the Borders Details die set.  To complete my page I also included the super cute llama image from the No-Prob-llama stamp set, and some Sweet Candy drops here and there. I think the final touches of every project I make are always the most fun ones!

FSJ • Thank You Card

It has been a while since I saw the shaving cream technique for the first time on the internet, of course I wanted to give it a try to create fun backgrounds for some of my projects. So today I am finally sharing a card that I made using this fun technique along with some  Fun Stampers Journey products.

031918web_thankyou

I used a disposable plate to put the shaving cream on along with a few drops of  different Liquid Colors (Lemon Drop, Lemon Grass, Cool Pool and Catalina Splash). I used a disposable stirrer to doodle and mix the color and shaving cream well. Then, I placed a Whip Cream panel on top of it to grab some of the mix. With and old gift card I wiped off the cream to reveal the results . Quite easy, not so messy and super quick!

031918web_thankyou2

I trimmed off the background, matted it and adhered it over a card base. Then, I die cut the sentiment from Cool Pool Cardstock. This die is called Charming Thank You and it is a Host Exclusive product (Included in the new Spring Into Summer Mini Trends Catalog). For more details about how to become a Host, please click >>>HERE<<<

031918web_thankyou3

Since the words are quite thin, I die cut three layers of them with Whip Cream cardstock. I used the Journey Craft Glue to adhere them together and create dimension. Finally, I Used a double layer of Hexagons to  be the frame of my sentiment and I embellished the card with some Sweet Candy Drops.  Loved the technique, loved how my project turned out.

The current FSJ Promotion of the month is called Splish Splash Sparkle, so please take advantage of the, 20% off a la carte Silks and Color Splashes. Click on the image below for more information about it:

FSJ • Eat More Cake

I have been trying not to get too far behind making my scrapbooking pages. I have opted for smaller page sizes, and also using my mini printer for the pictures. I have a regular photo printer but I have found that using my small printer saves me time and I think the prints look really good in smaller layouts.

One of the things that I like to do every year on my birthday is to bake my own cake. Last September, I made a white cake,  and a few weeks ago , I made an 8″ x 8″ scrapbook page to record it. I had the good intention of submitting this layout for a publication but right after I finished it,  I saw that the due date had past 😥 Anyway, I thought the least I could do was to share it with you 😉

EatMoreCake2

For this layout I used products from the Bloom This Way and the Fun Stampers Journey Inspiration Catalogs. The stamp set that I used for the title is called Celebrations Script, and I also used its matching die set.  To complement the title I simply added the “celebrating” word using an old fashion labeler.

EatMoreCake3

The design has a few layers of cardstock that work as a main frame for the pictures and title.  I added a row of layered flowers and leaves right  below the pictures and I embellished them with Rainbow Drops and Bloom Time sequins.

EatMoreCake4

I also created a cluster of tags, sequins, a heart clip and a button directly above one of the pictures. Once all the elements were in place, I  flicked some Sparkle silk over the whole page.

EatMoreCake5

I like mixing and matching products when I am creating. Generally my pictures and patterned papers will give me a good start to choose all the colors and little details that at the end will make the pages shine  😉

Here is the color combo that I used for this page:

FSJ • A Day in the City

The 12″ x 12″ scrapbook page size has always been my favorite to work with since the large size gives you plenty of room for pictures and many products like patterned papers and embellishments. However, I also have done some of my pages in 8″ x 8″ or 6″ x 8″ sizes. These last two, are fun since you can finish a page faster, but the size of the page kind of limits the amount of details and pictures you can use. Anyhow, I was curious about trying another size for a page: 8.5″ x 11″ or Letter size. I have seen many  scrapbookers creating using this size and they always seem to achieve beautiful pages where the amount of elements seems to be just right.

Well, today I am sharing a letter size page that I made using wonderful Fun Stampers Journey products to document a short visit to the city that my husband and I did last year. I won’t be describing each of the steps I followed to create this page but I will highlight a few of them.

020418web_adayinthecity8

I used the clouds paper that is included in the Spring Filled Prints pack, as the background for the double layer of buildings I made with the Hero City die. For the other part of the page, I used the dotted paper included in the Birthday Pop Prints pack. To disguise the joint in between, and to connect the upper and bottom parts of the page, I used two lines of Journey Tape. You can barely see them since the pictures and title are right on top of them.

020418web_adayinthecity5

For the word “city” I aligned the letters on an acrylic block leaving enough space in between them, so I could die cut them later. I inked the whole letters with Beach Ball ink and then, using a sponge dauber and Huckleberry Fusion Ink, I applied color over half of each letter to achieve an ombré effect. This part has to be done fast because you don’t want the ink to dry over the stamp. For this step be sure that both of your ink pads are quite juicy.

020418web_adayinthecity6

For the words “A Day in The”, I stamped each letter with Black Licorice Ink and I die cut each of them with their matching die. I used a circle as a base to adhere the letters. Using a circle was in part, because we rode the Ferris wheel 😉 and because I could put more letters along the circle than if I tried to put them all in a straight line over the word “city”. I think they fit and look better. Besides that, I punched a couple of hearts using Mirror Gold cardstock, just to embellish and link both lines of the title.

020418web_adayinthecity7

Besides the pictures, I also used the memorabilia from that day as part of my page. Since the page already had a lot of elements so far, I did not want to add that many embellishments, so I only used a bubble text, a piece of view film, and a camera clip. Overall I can say that I liked the letter size for a page, I made it quite fast, and I loved how my page turned out at the end.

FSJ • Happy Birthday Card

Since the Bloom This Way mini catalog was released, I have been having a a lot of fun creating with some of the great products included in it. If you are curious about this fabulous catalog, please click >>>HERE<<< so you can see it!

Today I am sharing a fun card using one of my favorites sets from this catalog: Story Book Occasions.  So, I chose the little lamb image and I stamped it three times with Black Licorice Ink over a Whip Cream cardstock  panel. To achieve the overlapped images I made a mask with a sticky note.

011018web_lHappyBday

Then, I die cut the panel into a pierced rectangle. I also gave the images a hint of color  with my Color Burst pencils and using a craft knife I cut out the balloons centers to create three mini shaker windows.  I used a little bit of Clear Sparkle Confetti to fill in the tiny windows. I matted the panel with Cool Pool cardstock.

011018web_lHappyBday2

After that, I layered a Spring Filled Print rectangle over a Bubble Gum card base, and adhered the shaker panel on top of it.  Last, I finished up the card with a sentiment, Sparkle silk, Bubble Gum Thread and a Fun Day Elements paper clip.

Please don’t forget that this month’s promotion is still going on:
