Merry Christmas!

Christmas always bring memories to my mind of my mom, my dad, my siblings and my childhood dreams back then. The nostalgic feeling brings me a chance to create my own happy memories with my family, hoping that when my sons have their own families, they will also make moments that they can treasure in the future, like I do now.

Anyhow, this quick post is also to wish you wonderful time with your loved ones…

I hope this day is blessed with happiness, joy, lots of love and yummy food!

FSJ • Merry Christmas Card + Sketch

Don’t you like it when you can create a card that is easy to duplicate? I love when I can have my little assembly line and save some time when making several cards at a time. Today I am sharing a card that might work that way. I made it using a few Fun Stamper Journey products, so I hope you get some inspiration from me. Take a look:

I began by putting two strips of washi tape over a Whip Cream cardstock panel (Holiday Fun + Candy Apple washi tapes). Then, I adhered the panel over a Candy Apple folded card. After that, I die cut a hexagon from Whip Cream cardstock, and a pine shape from Kiwi Slice cardstock. I adhered the hexagon onto the card front and the pine tree shape over the hexagon using Journey foam squares. I want to point out that the pine tree shape belongs to a great die set called : Special Day Tags, and I consider it one of those “must have” in your stash!

The sentiment that I used belongs to a set called Holiday Joy and it was white-embossed over a Black Licorice cardstock strip.  I adhered it onto the card with Journey Foam Squares and I simply complemented the card with three pretty Holiday Sparkles.

Here you have the sketch for this card.Remember that sketches are versatile and you can always give them your personal spin!

FSJ • Stay Cozy Card

It’s that time of the year when days start being shorter and seems the hours are  not enough  because, there is a lot of things to do and accomplish before the end of the year. Well, besides other things I have been trying to do, I have been working hard to share a bit more cards this month. So today I have another wintery card! This one showcases a pretty Fun Stampers Journey stamp set called Stay Cozy.

I used an embossing folder called Cozy Knit to emboss a  Cool Pool cardstock panel and then,  I adhered it over a Cranberry Bliss cardstock folded card. After that I die cut two circles. One using the Circles Around die set and a b/w plaid print from the  Cozy Prints paper pack. The other pierced circle was die cut using the Journey Circles die set and Whip Cream cardstock. I want to point out that the circles from both of these sets are different so you can have more circle size options. I also used a strip of red plaid print and a piece of Silver Sparkle Washi Tape to create a few layers over the card, alternating the elements: tape, plaid circle, paper strip, pierced circle.

Next, I stamped the darling snowy village scene onto Whip Cream cardstock using Black Licorice ink. I colored the image using Color Burst Color Pencils and I added Journey Glaze and Sparkle cuts. I trimmed around the image with scissors and andhered the piece onto the pierced circle with Journey Foam squares. I  complemented the card with a  white-embossed sentiment over a Black Licorice cardstock circle,  and I finished it up  with a couple of staples and some silver sequins.

FSJ • It’s Cold Outside

It’s cold outside, indeed! Low temperatures make me want to stay home all day wearing my pjs and just play in my craft room! Well, since I have been doing some extra holidays cards here and there, today I want to share another one, featuring a cute stamp set by Fun Stampers Journey called It’s Cold Outside.

The card itself is quite simple. The background was made using the Tiny Dots embossing folder over a Whip Cream cardstock panel. Then, I rounded the four corners and adhered it over a Tin Pail folded card.

The images were stamped with Black Licorice ink onto Whip Cream cardstock and then die cut with its matching die. To color the images I used Liquid Colors and a small blending brush. The brownish color of the squirrel was made by mixing Orange Creamsicle and a little bit of River Stone.  If you see, the coloring does not have to be perfect, the images are very cute by themselves. The final touches for this card were gemstones and a Frosted Forest sticker.  Quick and easy.

FSJ • Inspired By | Holly Jolly Christmas

Sometimes when creating, and you are not pretty sure how to tackle a project, simplicity can make wonders. So, inspired by my talented friend Kim Kesti and this amazing card of hers, I created a card, using the same Fun Stampers Journey stamp set and the same design concept, take a look:

Rather than using very bright colors like Kim’s card,  I went for the route of  more traditional colors. The pretty set that we used is called Deck the Halls and the images included in it are perfect to create a fireplace Christmas scene. I began my card by stamping the fireplace, wreath and sentiment with Black Licorice ink over a Whip Cream panel. I matted the panel with one Cozy Prints Printed Paper rectangle, and I adhered the panel over a Kiwi Slice folded card.

The concept design of pop of color is simply genius. I stamped the bow, stocking and presents with Black Licorice ink over different colors of cardstock (Chambray Shirt, Candy Apple, Limeade Splash. Then, I fussy cut those images and adhered them onto the card front. I used foam tape to add dimension to some of those elements. To finish up this card, I added a Journey Glaze to the sentiment and I put a few Party Burst dots over the wreath.  Easy, pretty and fun.

FSJ • Wishing You…

It’s hard to believe that the month of December is about to begin, so I think today is a good idea to start sharing with you one of the Christmas cards that I have made so far using Fun Stampers Journey products. This card was made using a nice stamp set called Holiday Joy along with the Branch & Cone die set.

I began this card by making the background. I know is a bit hard to see but I used a Fresh Sage cardstock panel, and using a small dauber dowel and Whip Cream ink, I created a bokeh effect. It is actually a ver subtle effect that lightens the color underneath and makes it softer and uneven. It is really pretty in real life! Once the background panel was completly dried, I Gold-embossed the sentiment. I adhered the panel over a Oatmeal Cookie cardstock panel and then, onto a Fresh Forest folded card.

The pine branches were die cut from Green Olive cardstock, and the pine cones from Oatmeal Cookie and Hazelnut Blend cardstock. I arranged the shapes and adhered them using a bit of Journey Craft Glue,  Glue Dots and Foam Squares to add a bit of dimension. To finish up this card, I used Gift Twine, Sparkle silk and some Gold Friendship sequins.

Always Christmas cards are so much fun to make, no matter what technique, type of products you use, or colors! I like to improvise, and also enjoy my projects as I create them! How about you?

FSJ • Happy New Year + 5 Faves Cards & Products

The year is almost over, and by now we all should have a list or at least, a tentative list of  resolutions for the upcoming year, right? Well, mine is a short list that of course, includes sharing projects more often here on my blog. 2017 was a busy year for our family, so between two jobs, having the task of selling our old house, finding a new one, and moving in, was challenging to me. On the good note, the 2017 resolutions “selling the house” and “buying a house”  have a  big check mark on the side! I can not complain, everything worked perfect for us.

Anyways,  today I am sharing a card that I made for New Years. I have to say that using patterned papers can always save you a lot of time, specially if you are short of time. I used one of the prints from the Through the Year prints pack, an with one of these 12 x 12 sheets you can make as eight backgrounds for a card like mine below:

122917web_happynewyear

The focal point was simply stamped with Black Licorice Ink over a Whip Cream small panel. I put some Journey Glaze over the words and glasses of Champagne. While the Journey glaze was still wet, I added some Silver Shavings over the glasses just to make them shine, and they actually look like tiny pretty bubbles 😉

122917web_happynewyear2

I complemented the background with strips of different kinds of Journey tape, some mirror gold stars, silk and some stars that I cut out from the Star Struck  strip. That was it!

To end this year and to share again with you, I chose five card that are my 2017 favorites. Please click on them if you want to see more details about them:

The Fun Stampers Journey Catalog is full of amazing products, but of course I have some that are my favorites, so today I also want to share my five favorites products that I think everybody should have 😉  Journey Glaze, Liquid Colors, Silks, Journey Gel Press, Journey Coloring Pencils.

Finally,  I just want to wish you all a Happy New Year and Thank you all for taking the time to visit my blog!! I hope you can continue doing it 😉

FSJ • Christmas Card

Happy Monday everyone! I am starting this week with a Christmas card that I made using Fun Stampers Journey  products. This card features the Classic Ornaments Stamp and Die Set, which is one of my favorites. I have to point out that this set will retire December 31st.

I began by creating a base card from Green Olive card stock. Then,  I adhered a rectangle of ‘Tis the Season Prints  onto the base card. Patterned papers are always a good way to speed up your projects, specially if you are making more than one card 😉  After that, I silver-embossed the sentiment on a Candy Apple card stock strip, and I adhered it onto the card with foam squares.

121716web_christmas2

The pretty dove want simply stamped with Green Olive ink over Whip Cream card stock, and die-cut with its matching frame. I adhered it over the card with foam squares as well. Finally, I embellished the card witha piece of  Be Cool Journey Tape, sequins, silver thread, Journey Glaze and Sparkle Cuts details. Tip: to keep the thread on place, I stapled it on each side with a Brush Silver Staple, and I add a dot of Journey Glaze underneath the thread bow.

FSJ• Brrr! Snow Buddy Card

Hello! This is the time of the year when the days are very cold, and the only thing you want to  do is to stay home! Today I had the perfect excuse to stay home and craft for a little bit, so I created  a card  featuring some Fun Stampers Journey products. The stamp set that I used is called Snow Buddy and I have to point out that this is a set that has a coordinating die set. You can buy them separately or as a bundle! Fun Stampers Journey products can be purchase through a coach in your area. To find one near you, click on the “Find a Coach” button on the top of the Fun Stampers Journey welcome page.

121116web_brr

I began by using a Color Splash Sheet and Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils to create the background of this card.  I wasn’t sure how to cover a large area with color, so I had to practice a little bit, and I ended up just doing long strokes of color from top to bottom using a large Blending Brush . I did first a layer of blue, and then red. I repeated the steps until I was pleased with the results. After that, I white-embossed the snowflakes. Then,  I matted this panel with Cranberry Bliss card stock. I tied Journey Twine Licorice Twist around the background panel and I adhered it over a Huckleberry Fusion base card.

121116web_brr2

The cute buddy was simply stamped over Whip Cream card stock with Black Licorice ink, and colored with watercolor pencils as well.  I  die cut it with its matching die, and I added Journey Glaze and Sparkle Cuts details. Then, I adhered this piece onto the card with foam squares. Finally, I added a sentiment, some Holiday Elements, sequins and rhinestones.

Yesterday we had some snow, not a lot, but just enough to make me want to stay home. My husband and I took our Shelby for a walk this morning (she is always happy to go outside.)  We are having  a second round of snow, and temperatures will drop drastically by Wednesday 😦 For sure we will all be bundled up like the little buddy of my card 🙂

For this special ocasion I created two cards. The first one, features images from the main kit. Check it:

120416web_cheers1

I created the background panel by simply using a sponge dauber and different colors of Hybrid inks. I love how the round sponge marks make sort of bokeh effect.  After that I stamped the bottle image over a piece of Snow layering paper, I colored it with Chameleon markers and I die cut the shape with its matching die.  I also die cut the Cheers fancy die from black card stock.

Once I had those elements ready I place them over the background panel, just to see where I was going to stamp the complementary text, little bubbles and sparks.  I used Intense Black ink to do that.  Finally, I adhered bottle and sentiment with foam tape, and I embellished with some sequins here and there.

120416web_cheers2

My second card features some of the Add-On products which I think are fabulous! Check it out:

120416web_celebrate1

This time I used the DI339 Party Confetti Fancy Die along with the dark blue metallic card stock. I adhered over a gold foil card stock panel  and then, over a Snow Layering paper card base. I used one  infinity die circle to die cut a frame for the champagne glasses, and  I gold embossed the bubbles (CM123 Birthday Celebration).  I adhered the circle over the card with foam tape.

120416web_celebrate2

Then, I die cut two of the glasses (DI343 Birthday Celebration Frame Cuts )  with Snow Layering paper and other two with gold foil card stock. I trimmed off the upper part of the gold ones with scissors, just because I wanted them to look like as if they were clinking 😉 Then I adhered the gold ones over the white ones. I   adhered them over the circle with foam tape as well. To finish off this card, I gold embossed the sentiment (CM123 Birthday Celebration) over a strip of dark blue metallic card stock, I adhered it over the circle and I embellished the card with some gold sequins.

As always Hero is giving away one kit as a prize to one blog reader – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes December 11 at 11:59pm, and the winner will be announced the following week. Here is the complete list of participant blogs:
