RG’s 2017 CHA New Release Blog Hop + a Grand Prize

RG New Collections Blog Hop.jpg

Welcome to my blog! I am very happy and excited to start 2017 sharing a little bit of the NEW amazing RG’s Collections that will be released at CHA later this month. The four new collections are amazing and today we are having a Blog Hop to showcase some the new products.

I created a card featuring a collection called: Media Adventure. This collection is quite unique and beautiful. Among others, it includes dies and embossing folders. The card that I created for today, is showing one of the die sets named The Fun, which is a paper doll. Check it out:

The Media Venture doll dies are so much fun! I love that the parts of the dolls can be die cut separately, and you can always give them  your personal touch! This time I  chose a soft color combo  for this card, and I paired the doll with some products by FSJ to complement it. You will find the complete list of products at the end of this post.

Thankful for Hero Arts + Happy New Year Card

Once my curiosity for the crafting world was ignited in 2009, my search for inspiration has always been endless. I remember sometimes going to the craft store and spending time there, looking at the stamps and thinking of all the things that I could create with them. It was at Archivers where I saw Hero Arts stamps for the very first time, and I fell in love with them. As you can imagine, I became a fan of them. I started checking out their blog everyday, and of course, I also started participating in their challenges. I recall the first time I was one of the winners of a generous prize with this card:

dsc_0017_100709.jpg

OMG! I was so excited! I might of had a big smile for days or weeks. I thought of how fortunate the talented team members were to be part of the Hero Arts family and how nice it would be to be one of them (sigh). Obviously, I continued participating, and every single time I received a prize, the happy dance certainly took place in my house 🙂

Anyways, I don’t like to brag about this, but two of my cards were selected to be on the cover of Paper Crafts Magazines back in 2011, and I used Hero Arts products on them (Peacock Card (left) & Butterfly Card (right). I loved that!  Some other cards were also selected for other issues using Hero Arts products as well.

mgrigsbyPCcovers

The prizes, the publications, and the joy of doing something that I really like, kept feeding my love for card making. One of my favorite cards that wasn’t intended for any publication is this one:

mgrigsby_wishingyoulove

I have to confess that in 2014 I was a little bit unmotivated. My mojo was down, and I had reached that point when you ask yourself if you should keep creating. I have always thought that when you wish with your heart, things come true. I was at that stage, when I received an email from sweet Libby Hickson, to invite me to be part of the Hero Arts Creative Team. The happy dance started again! I felt so honored to received such an unexpected and amazing invitation.

This was a great incentive for me to continue on the path of creativity! I am so grateful for Hero Arts, and for all their help, guidance and trust that they have had in me. I loved that my cards have been included in many of their catalogs (including covers) and besides that, they even gave me the chance to select a couple of color combinations with my name on them!

For two years it has been a pleasure to work with the Hero Arts Creative Team members, and learn from them too. All these ladies have always amazed me with such a great talent that they have. I love their different styles and creations.

I know every card maker has a different story, but I can say that it’s always a good motivation to have access to different sources of inspiration,  that makes you want to create more and more. I have belonged to different design teams along the way, always grateful to have the time to help these companies to showcase and promote their products. However, I am a firm believer that changes are good. Sometimes you don’t have a choice but some others, you do. Since last September, I took the opportunity to become a part timer as a crew member of  Fun Stampers Journey and I have committed to work exclusively for their brand. Today, my term with Hero Arts has come to an end. This is bitter sweet.  The Hero Arts family will always remain in my heart and will have my gratitude. I am very thankful for having had the chance to work with them.

Definitely, I can not conclude this post without sharing another Hero Arts card featuring one of the My Monthly Hero of December add-on products called Happy New Year Stamp and Cut.

I colored it using my Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils, and I enhanced some of the parts of this cute bandit with Journey Glaze.  I embellished the card with  Silver Silk,  sparkling white washi (NEW!), hearts and dots.

FSJ • Christmas Card

Happy Monday everyone! I am starting this week with a Christmas card that I made using Fun Stampers Journey  products. This card features the Classic Ornaments Stamp and Die Set, which is one of my favorites. I have to point out that this set will retire December 31st.

Please remember that Fun Stampers Journey products can be purchase through a coach in your area. To find one near you, click on the “Find a Coach” button on the top of the Fun Stampers Journey welcome page.

I began by creating a base card from Green Olive card stock. Then,  I adhered a rectangle of ‘Tis the Season Prints  onto the base card. Patterned papers are always a good way to speed up your projects, specially if you are making more than one card 😉  After that, I silver-embossed the sentiment on a Candy Apple card stock strip, and I adhered it onto the card with foam squares.

121716web_christmas2

The pretty dove want simply stamped with Green Olive ink over Whip Cream card stock, and die-cut with its matching frame. I adhered it over the card with foam squares as well. Finally, I embellished the card witha piece of  Be Cool Journey Tape, sequins, silver thread, Journey Glaze and Sparkle Cuts details. Tip: to keep the thread on place, I stapled it on each side with a Brush Silver Staple, and I add a dot of Journey Glaze underneath the thread bow.

FSJ• Brrr! Snow Buddy Card

Hello! This is the time of the year when the days are very cold, and the only thing you want to  do is to stay home! Today I had the perfect excuse to stay home and craft for a little bit, so I created  a card  featuring some Fun Stampers Journey products. The stamp set that I used is called Snow Buddy and I have to point out that this is a set that has a coordinating die set. You can buy them separately or as a bundle! Fun Stampers Journey products can be purchase through a coach in your area. To find one near you, click on the “Find a Coach” button on the top of the Fun Stampers Journey welcome page.

121116web_brr

I began by using a Color Splash Sheet and Journey Color Splash Watercolor Pencils to create the background of this card.  I wasn’t sure how to cover a large area with color, so I had to practice a little bit, and I ended up just doing long strokes of color from top to bottom using a large Blending Brush . I did first a layer of blue, and then red. I repeated the steps until I was pleased with the results. After that, I white-embossed the snowflakes. Then,  I matted this panel with Cranberry Bliss card stock. I tied Journey Twine Licorice Twist around the background panel and I adhered it over a Huckleberry Fusion base card.

121116web_brr2

The cute buddy was simply stamped over Whip Cream card stock with Black Licorice ink, and colored with watercolor pencils as well.  I  die cut it with its matching die, and I added Journey Glaze and Sparkle Cuts details. Then, I adhered this piece onto the card with foam squares. Finally, I added a sentiment, some Holiday Elements, sequins and rhinestones.

Yesterday we had some snow, not a lot, but just enough to make me want to stay home. My husband and I took our Shelby for a walk this morning (she is always happy to go outside.)  We are having  a second round of snow, and temperatures will drop drastically by Wednesday 😦 For sure we will all be bundled up like the little buddy of my card 🙂

HA 2017 Valentine’s Collection Blog Hop

vday_bloghop_800

Welcome! Today I am happy to be joining this hop that celebrates the launch of the 2017 Valentine’s Collection in the Hero Arts store! Be sure to visit the Hero Arts store to see the complete collection!

As part of this launch, I created a card using three fabulous products which I definitely love: Destination Paris, Heart Pattern Bold Prints and the new Nesting Hearts Infinity Dies.

120716web_paris

I stamped the Heart Pattern Bold Prints over a card base ( Blush mix Layering Papers  -Carnation color) with Pale Tomato Shadow Ink. After that I stamped the Destination Paris image over Snow Layering paper with Intense Black Ink. I colored the image using Chameleon Markers and then, I die cut this panel into a large heart. I applied Glossy Accents and glitter over the colored image. I let this dry.

120716web_paris3

I also die cut a large heart from Blush mix Layering Papers  (Punch color) and I adhered this heart over the base card. I adhered the stamped heart over the card with foam tape (If you trim off the right side of the hearts before you adhere them, makes things easier). To finish off this card I simply added some sequins and thread.

GIVEAWAY

Hero will be giving away two $25 shopping sprees, drawn from comments left across all blogs in the hop. Please comment by Thursday, December 15 at 11:59pm PT and they will announce the winner the following week.

For this special ocasion I created two cards. The first one, features images from the main kit. Check it:

120416web_cheers1

I created the background panel by simply using a sponge dauber and different colors of Hybrid inks. I love how the round sponge marks make sort of bokeh effect.  After that I stamped the bottle image over a piece of Snow layering paper, I colored it with Chameleon markers and I die cut the shape with its matching die.  I also die cut the Cheers fancy die from black card stock.

Once I had those elements ready I place them over the background panel, just to see where I was going to stamp the complementary text, little bubbles and sparks.  I used Intense Black ink to do that.  Finally, I adhered bottle and sentiment with foam tape, and I embellished with some sequins here and there.

120416web_cheers2

My second card features some of the Add-On products which I think are fabulous! Check it out:

120416web_celebrate1

This time I used the DI339 Party Confetti Fancy Die along with the dark blue metallic card stock. I adhered over a gold foil card stock panel  and then, over a Snow Layering paper card base. I used one  infinity die circle to die cut a frame for the champagne glasses, and  I gold embossed the bubbles (CM123 Birthday Celebration).  I adhered the circle over the card with foam tape.

120416web_celebrate2

Then, I die cut two of the glasses (DI343 Birthday Celebration Frame Cuts )  with Snow Layering paper and other two with gold foil card stock. I trimmed off the upper part of the gold ones with scissors, just because I wanted them to look like as if they were clinking 😉 Then I adhered the gold ones over the white ones. I   adhered them over the circle with foam tape as well. To finish off this card, I gold embossed the sentiment (CM123 Birthday Celebration) over a strip of dark blue metallic card stock, I adhered it over the circle and I embellished the card with some gold sequins.

As always Hero is giving away one kit as a prize to one blog reader – selected from the comments across all of the blogs in the hop. Giveaway closes December 11 at 11:59pm, and the winner will be announced the following week. Here is the complete list of participant blogs:
