FSJ • Happy New Year + 5 Faves Cards & Products

The year is almost over, and by now we all should have a list or at least, a tentative list of  resolutions for the upcoming year, right? Well, mine is a short list that of course, includes sharing projects more often here on my blog. 2017 was a busy year for our family, so between two jobs, having the task of selling our old house, finding a new one, and moving in, was challenging to me. On the good note, the 2017 resolutions “selling the house” and “buying a house”  have a  big check mark on the side! I can not complain, everything worked perfect for us.

Anyways,  today I am sharing a card that I made for New Years. I have to say that using patterned papers can always save you a lot of time, specially if you are short of time. I used one of the prints from the Through the Year prints pack, an with one of these 12 x 12 sheets you can make as eight backgrounds for a card like mine below:

The focal point was simply stamped with Black Licorice Ink over a Whip Cream small panel. I put some Journey Glaze over the words and glasses of Champagne. While the Journey glaze was still wet, I added some Silver Shavings over the glasses just to make them shine, and they actually look like tiny pretty bubbles 😉

I complemented the background with strips of different kinds of Journey tape, some mirror gold stars, silk and some stars that I cut out from the Star Struck  strip. That was it!

To end this year and to share again with you, I chose five card that are my 2017 favorites. Please click on them if you want to see more details about them:

The Fun Stampers Journey Catalog is full of amazing products, but of course I have some that are my favorites, so today I also want to share my five favorites products that I think everybody should have 😉  Journey Glaze, Liquid Colors, Silks, Journey Gel Press, Journey Coloring Pencils.

Finally,  I just want to wish you all a Happy New Year and Thank you all for taking the time to visit my blog!! I hope you can continue doing it 😉

FSJ Concept Designers Gel Press Print Swap

The FSJ Concept Designers have been having a little fun together (well, a LOT of fun) and today we want to show you what we’ve been working on! We had ourselves a little print swap. The six of us divided up into pairs. Three of the designers created an 8.5×11″ print on the Journey Gel Press. Then they cut their print in half and sent half to their partner. Each partner created a card using that print, and today we’re going to share what we’ve created! It was a really fun swap and I can’t wait to see all three of the prints, and how each designer used their print on a project!
I was one of the designers that made an 8.5×11″ print, and I created it by using warm acrylic paint tones  (I was thinking of the Fall season ), with a pop of white. I really liked how it turned out ! Besides the acrylic paints, I used stencils and modeling paste. This is my half:
I mailed the other half of the print to my partner for the swap who is Michelle, and  I have created this card with my half:
Since the colors were warm, I thought about making a thank you card for the Fall season. I used the Journey Gel Press print to make a background for the card, and I paired it with a thank you sentiment from a set called: Summer Garden.  I also used one Foiled Frame, some leaves and a zig-zag border.
To finish up my card I used some Gold Fashion dots and Gold ThreadSo now, if you haven’t visited Michelle yet, please click here to see what she has come up with her half!
Then, hop around to the rest of the teams, and see the prints they created, plus how they each used those prints!
Thanks so much for stopping by today! Enjoy the rest of the swap stops, and don’t forget to pin everyone’s projects for inspiration later on!”

FSJ • Praying for You

Hi there! I have always liked to create my own backgrounds. Sometimes when I am just playing with some fun products like the Fun Stampers Liquid Colors and the Journey Gel Press, it is hard to stop… I usually end up making many backgrounds! Today I am sharing a card that I made using one of those backgrounds along with some other products by Fun Stampers Journey

To create the background I simply put Lemon Drop and Fresh Forest Liquid color drops over the Journey Gel Press. Then, I sprayed a little bit of water with a mister  and  I spread the color with a brayer. I waited a few seconds until dots of color were formed over the Journey Gel Press and then I placed a Whip Cream panel over to pick up the color.  The beautiful flowers image is from a set called Beauty Blooms. To give the stamped image an ombré effect, I applied different colors of ink over the stamp with sponge daubers. To complement the focal point, I stamped a sentiment with Black Licorice ink over a strip of Whip Cream cardstock. Then, I fussy-cut the images with my favorite scissors, the Details Pro Shears!

I also die cut a tag from Fresh Forest cardtsock and then, I  layered all the card components using foam squares. I added some details like Journey tape, rainbow drops, Natural Thread, and a vellum strip behind the sentiment.  I was very happy with the results.

FSJ • Journey Gel Press Fun Projects

Hey there! I am back to share a couple of cards that I created using the new Journey Gel Press  and Fluttering Hearts Gel Impressions Plate.  Last June, I had the chance to be in one of the Gel Press workshops that took place at the FSJ Convention as an spectator. One of the things that I liked the most about it, was the versatility. There is no wrong way whatsoever while using the press.  The paper literally gets transformed into beautiful unique backgrounds that you can use for your cards, scrapbooking, etc. It is so much fun!

Last week, Richard did some videos featuring the regular flat press and the heart one as well. You can see some of these videos by clicking >>>HERE<<<

For my first card I created a multi layer background using the Journey Gel Press  and the Fluttering Hearts Gel Impressions Plate . Check it out:

I used the regular Gel Press to create a  background over a Whip Cream panel inking the surface directly with my ink pad. Then, I placed the panel over it to pick up the ink.  The result was an uneven subtle background. Quick and easy.

After that, I inked the Hearts Gel Press with a darker color and I placed the Whip Cream Panel on top of the Gel Press.

Next, and just to give the hearts a different look I randomly inked the hearts only using the side of the ink pad. Then, I place the cardstock panel over my table, and flipped over the Heart Gel Press  and carefully placed it onto the panel trying to match the hearts below. I repeated this twice.

Since I was experimenting with this background, I also stamped the Vintage Notes background on top of my Gel Press impressions.   I stamped a sentiment and I finished my card with Journey Glaze, Journey tape and sequins.

For my  second card, I used the the Journey Gel Press  and the Fluttering Hearts Gel Impressions Plate  as well, but this time I did not create that many layers of ink, but at the end I was very pleased with the results. Take a look…

If you like to experiment and play with different mediums, I highly recommend you to try the Journey Gel Press. It is so much fun to create with it.

Please be sure to visit the Fun Stampers Journey for more inspiration and the RG Signature FB page. Richard constantly shares videos showing new techniques and projects 😉 Also, my talented team pals   Michelle Woerner,  and Patricia Roebuck  >HERE< and >HERE< have also being busy sharing fabulous projects using the Journey Gel Press.
