My Monthly Hero Blog Hop + Giveaway

The new My Monthly Hero kit has been just released and it will be available TODAY September 3rd at the Hero Arts store, but be aware that this kit is available for a limited time only – once it’s gone, it’s gone. This month the kits will begin shipping from Hero Arts on Friday, September 6th, and you can pre-order it today. I want to point out that you have the option to subscribe and receive the kit monthly and never miss one.

The theme for September is Halloween “Cabinet of Curiosities” inspired. The main kit is a version of the HA popular peek-a-boo dies, with the clear set having the cabinet and the odd things to go in it. Check it out:

The kit includes: 6″ x 8″ Clear Stamp Set, 1 Peek-a-boo Drawers Fancy Die, 3 Fancy Dies, Bronze Silk Ink 0.5 fl. oz., 10 Bee & Key Charms, 6 5.5″ x 8.5″ Sheets of Decorative Paper (Rich Copper, Urban Basilia Black, Wood Abachi Solid). The value of this kit is $76.49, but you only have to pay $34.99 for it… so this is really a good deal!

So, using the main kit components I created this card:

I started by stamping the cabinet outline with  Intense Black Ink  over white cardstock. After that, I colored the frame with a gray marker, and the inner rectangles with different colors of Chameleon markers. I continued by stamping the label frames, handles, keyholes, and a sentiment. Then, I proceed to die cut the image.

Then, on another white cardstock panel I stamped different images and sentiments using different colors of ink. To help myself to do this and not miss the right spot for each of the tiny stamps, I used my Misti. So I stamped the cabinet frame on a piece of paper and I used it as a guide on the misti foam mat to stamp the little images. Once the images were in the right spot, I pick them up with the clear plate, then I put a white cardstock panel over the paper guide and started stamping all of the images, color by color. It was fun to do this!

At the end, I adhered the cabinet image over the white stamped panel using tiny dots of craft glue. The final touches were Journey Glaze and some Sparkle dust to give a little bit of a bling.

For my second card I used one of the add-on stamp sets called I see Crafting and I created a cute scene with the cat, crystal ball, candle and a sentiment:

I began by creating the background using the Dreamy Nights Stencil, Soft Sky Shadow ink and a sponge dauber to achieve a subtle image. Then, I stamped the images using Intense Black Ink  over white cardstock and after that I colored them with markers. Next, I die cut the images with their matching frame cuts.

I stamped a sentiment directly over the background panel, and then I adhered the images with foam tape. For the final touches I used some clear dots, glaze and sparkle dust glitter. I used one of the Urban Basilia Black cardstock from the main kit as the card base. Simple, yet fun!

Hero Arts will give away one kit, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, September 8th at 11:59pm pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week.

  1. Both of the cards look like fun! I could use the cabinet idea for many other holidays or in anticipation of an up coming vacation for a friend!

  2. Mariane, your attention to detail with the Peek-A-Boo die & the cabinet stamp set is so evident. The time you took to colour the grey outlining things etc., really makes it stand out. Fabulous card & I also like the CAS style of the cat card.

  8. I’m so glad you did your cabinet on a horizontal instead of vertical orientation – gives it a different look. And the coloring is amazing! The “drawers” seem to have real dimension to them. Beautiful!

  9. Rotating the cabinet and added such lovely colors, set your card up uniquely and beautifully! I am really looking forward to crafting with this kit and a few wonderful addons I was able to get!

  10. Ooohhh I love your colouring on the cabinet. You are the first person I’ve seen use Cameleons. That is what I have so it was good instruction. You did a lovely job.
